Due to dry conditions and increased fire risk, the Halifax County Board of Supervisors has approved a county wide burn ban. No outdoor burning will be allowed until further notice.

The ban comes as Virginia is currently under the annual 4 pm burn law until April 30. The entire southside region is currently under a drought warning, according to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Drought Monitoring Task Force.
