
No injuries have been reported following an incident at a local airport. According to Virginia State Police, on Wednesday at 9:18 pm, a United Airlines Embraer EMB-145XR overshot the landing at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport.
Upon touching down the plane did not have sufficient runway to stop and ran off the end of the runway. Tail number N21129 was landing and did not provide enough braking distance to bring the plane to a stop and continued off the end of the paved runway onto the E-MAS (Emergency Stopping Equipment).
There were 53 passengers and crew on the aircraft, and no injuries were reported. The FAA was notified and will investigate the cause of the incident.
Multiple flights this morning have been delayed because of the incident.
