A man has been arrested on child pornography charges in Pittsylvania County. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, On August 28, the Cybercrimes Division opened a criminal investigation after receiving a lead from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The lead alleged a crime involving sexual exploitation of children. Personnel investigated the complaint resulting in yesterday’s arrest of 55-year-old Stephen Scott Herndon.

Herndon has been charged with 20 counts of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography. Herndon is currently in the Pittsylvania County Jail under no bond.

A first court appearance has not been scheduled.  The investigation is still ongoing.
