The burn ban in Pittsylvania County has officially been lifted. On Tuesday afternoon, Pittsylvania County Director of Public Safety Chris Key announced that the burn ban had been canceled effective at 1 pm on May 26.
The ban is being lifted due to sufficient rainfall since the ban was first issued back on April 24. The recent rainfall has alleviated the abnormally dry conditions that could have caused widespread fire events.
The burn ban has also been lifted in Halifax County effective at 9 am on May 26.
