The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says there is a chance of flash flooding across the southside today. According to NWS, there is a slight risk or at least 15% chance of flash flooding across the region today.
Localized flash flooding will once again be a concern today and tonight as a stalled front remains in the area. Tropical moisture will allow showers/storms to form this afternoon, capable of rainfall rates of 3-4″ per hour and having the potential to move over the same locations repeatedly.
Combined with the heavy rainfall observed yesterday, this supports a Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall (Risk Level 2 of 4) for areas generally south of I-64.
