Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Halifax County. The crash occurred Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 8:15 pm in the 1000 block of Howard Anderson Highway.
A 2006 GMC Envoy was traveling south on Howard Anderson Highway when it ran off the right shoulder. The vehicle overcorrected, ran off the left side of the highway and struck several trees. The vehicle then overturned down an embankment.
The driver, Corey M. Wetmore, 28, of Brick, N.J., died at the scene. The passenger, Brittany A. Forsythe, 26, of Browns Mills, N.J., also died at the scene.
Neither was wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
