A local award-winning artist will have four paintings featured at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts on Tuesday. Danville native Sherman Watkins will have four of his paintings featured on the stage at the museum on Tuesday at 11 am.

Watkins has won awards for three of the paintings that will be featured. His Bloody Monday painting won Best in Show at The Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center in 2018.

Watkins will also display his Black History painting that won second place at the Help Heal Vets Craft and Salute Show. Also on display will be “The Village”, a painting that Watkins won a gold medal for at the Creative Arts Festival in Reno, Nevada.

The display will be a preview of things to come from Watkins, who has completed over 90 Civil Rights themed paintings.
