The Danville Police Department has located an inmate that walked away from a work crew on Saturday. Escaped inmate Nicholas W. Spence, Sr. was taken into custody without incident on Monday afternoon.
Spence was located in Pittsylvania County by the Danville Police Department with assistance from the Virginia State Police. He is in the Danville City Jail and has been charged with escaping custody without force.
Spence was initially incarcerated on a shoplifting charge. The Danville Police Department wishes to thank the community for their tips and assistance in this case.
