On Wednesday the U.S. House of Representatives passed 8 provisions in the “Protecting Our Kids Act”, a bipartisan package to prevent mass shootings and fight gun violence. One provision raises the age to buy an “assault-style” rifle to 21 from 18. The shooters in Uvalde and Buffalo were both 18. Another provision creates new federal offenses for the import, sale, manufacture, transfer or possession of large-capacity magazines with limited exceptions.
