An inmate suicide occurred Tuesday at the Rockingham County Detention Facility. According to the Sheriff’s Office corrections officers found the inmate had attempted to take his own life and they along with medics tried to save him but he succumbed to his injuries. Officials say the inmate was booked into the jail on Monday but it’s not known what he was charged with. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting a probe into the death.
