DANVILLE, Va. – At 4:16 p.m., the Dan River was at 27.05 feet. The river reaches moderate flood stage in Danville at 26 feet. The latest river crest projection is 28.3 feet early this evening.

Based on the projected crest of 28.3 feet, all anticipated flooded streets are now closed. The major closures are:

  • River Street
  • Memorial Drive from the Robertson Bridge to Primrose Place.
  • Park Avenue from the intersection of Memorial Drive to West Main Street.
  • Goodyear Blvd near Beauford Street – both directions.
  • Goodyear Blvd. at Pumpkin Creek.

Public Works crews will continue to monitor until streets can be cleaned and reopened. Cleanup efforts will begin after the water recedes. The river will fall below flood stage late Saturday evening.
