The Danville Police Department, in partnership with E.P.I.C. Health Partners, hosted a graduation ceremony recognizing 11 individuals who successfully completed the Incarceration Doesn’t Define Us (I.D.D.U.) program.
During the ceremony, graduates received certificates of completion and reflected on their journeys through the program. Several participants shared personal testimonies, highlighting how I.D.D.U. has helped prepare them for a successful transition back into the community.
The I.D.D.U. program continues to grow, providing meaningful support and structure for individuals working to rebuild their lives. Through its eight-week curriculum, participants are equipped with resources, guidance, and accountability to help ease the transition following incarceration or periods of hardship.
Correctional Treatment Specialist Ashtyn Foddrell reminded graduates that completion of the program is just the beginning of their continued growth. “Although you’ve made it to graduation, there’s still work to be done. It requires a commitment to staying on a forward path and consistently doing the right thing,” Foddrell said. “While our eight weeks together has ended, I will continue to be here to assist and guide you in any way I can.”
Program leaders and partners emphasized that while transformation takes time and commitment, initiatives like I.D.D.U. play a critical role in breaking cycles and creating opportunities for long-term success. The collaboration between the Danville Police Department and E.P.I.C. Health Partners reflects a shared commitment to strengthening individuals, families, and the broader community.
Since its inception, the program has supported numerous individuals in achieving milestones such as continuing their education, securing employment, and stable housing. Foddrell and police department staff remain dedicated to expanding programming and ensuring participants have access to the tools needed to become productive, engaged members of society.
