Danville Police Department Presents Awards for 2025

The Danville Police Department held the annual awards ceremony on Wednesday.

The Partnership Award was presented to the Guilford County North Carolina Narcotics Task Force. It was also presented to Virginia State Police Special Agent Christopher Sizemore.

Annually, the Partnership Award recognizes extraordinary commitment and collaboration between the Danville Police Department and an organization or individual that supports the Department in accomplishing its mission.

The Community Service Ribbon, given for an act which demonstrates devotion to Community Service of an idea implemented that improves conditions within a community, was presented to Cpl. Sylvia Brooks.

The Unit Award is given to a unit of the Danville Police Department for their outstanding service while functioning as a team. This year, the Unit Award was presented to the Motor Unit – Corporal Carnell Jackson, Jr., and Officers Daniel Brannock, Doug Cassell, Jr., and Adam Wyatt.

Sergeant Richard Wright, Nicholas Albano, Clinton Carty, Melissa Gulley, Zakary Clay, Deandre Edmonds, and David Guido Flores were all presented with the Lifesaver Ribbon for various acts of heroism during 2025.

The Lifesaver ribbon may be awarded to any member who saves or attempts to save a life, which is clearly threatened by medical or physical reasons. Community Guardian of the Year went to Officers Jeremy Lovelace and Marcus Wills, Jr.

Awards for Employee of the Year are nominated and selected based on their exemplary service to the community and department throughout the year.

Employee of the Year from W.W. Moore is Bernard Motley, Jr. Professional Staff Member of the Year for 2025 is Crystal McCraw.

Supervisor of the Year for 2025 was presented to Lt. Richard Marlowe, Sgt. Gerrit Clay, Sgt. Jonathan Wood, from Adult Detention Lt. Brandon Towler, and Jimmy Moore from W.W. Moore.

Officer Guido Flores was selected as the 2025 Officer of the Year. Correctional Officer of the Year is Frankie Tolbert.

Officer Telvis Betts was presented the Specialty Officer of the Year Award.

The Meritorious Police Duty Ribbon was presented to Lt. Christopher Morris. This award is for an act of intelligent and valuable police service demonstrating special faithfulness or perseverance, or highly creditable acts of police service.

Rebecca Morgan-Norstrud and Theo Younger earned the Director’s Award. The Director’s Award may be awarded by the Director of Adult Detention to a member of Adult Detention who strongly reflects the agency’s core values and has maintained a high level of performance, possesses an outstanding attitude and contributes significantly to the Department’s efforts.

Cpl. Ty’Quan Graves and Adult Detention Director Gene Beasley were each presented with the Chief’s Award. The Chief’s award medal may be awarded by the Chief of Police to a member of the Danville Police Department who strongly reflects the agency’s core values and has maintained a high level of performance, possesses an outstanding attitude and contributes significantly to the Department’s efforts.

Officer Kayla Robinson was presented with the Purple Heart Award. The Purple Heart may be awarded to any member who has been seriously, critically, or fatally wounded.

The Medal of Valor, the second highest award that can be given in the Department, was also presented to Officer Robinson. The Medal of Valor may be awarded to a member for an act of bravery that demonstrates obvious self-sacrifice in the face of death or serious bodily injury by knowingly exposing oneself to great personal risk in the performance of an official act.
