Two individuals have been arrested following an investigation of assault and neglect in Henry County. The parents of an 8-month-old Nikki Angelina Walker, 32, and Chase Thomas Fielder, 32, were identified as suspects in the assault and neglect of the child in a home on Norwood Drive.
When deputies arrived on scene early Thursday morning, they were able to take Nikki Walker into custody and place her in the Henry County Adult Detention Center on a $4,000 bond. She is charged with Felony Abuse and Neglect of a Child.
Fielder had fled the scene before units arrived and remained on the run until just before 8pm when information led the authorities to another home on Norwood Drive. Fielder slammed the door and barricaded himself in the home using everything available to block the doors, and based on his past criminal history and the escalation of the situation the Henry County SWAT team was activated. SWAT deployed chemical munitions and eventually utilized an armored vehicle to make entry as both doors were heavily barricaded. Fielder continued to resist arrest resulting in more chemical munitions being utilized. Fielder eventually vacated the residence and was taken into custody.
Fielder is facing charges of Felony Abuse and Neglect of a Child, and Obstruction of Justice and he too is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center but has no bond.
