The Eden Police Department is searching for a stolen vehicle following a child abduction on Wednesday morning. Officers responded at 9:05 am to 1217 Lewis St, Lee’s Little Explorers Child Care Center, in reference to a child abduction.
Officer’s arrived on scene and learned, a white 2016 Honda Odyssey Van was stolen from the parking lot with a one-year-old child in the vehicle. The mother of the child had walked into the day care to drop off other children. The van was left just outside the day care with the engine running and doors unlocked.
Witnesses on scene advised that once the mother entered the day care, a black male and white female got into the vehicle and fled the area.
At 9:18 am officers received information that a child was dropped off at a residence on Settlement Loop Rd. Investigators responded to the area and confirmed that the child was the one taken from 1217 Lewis St.
The caller on Settlement Loop Rd. advised that someone rang their doorbell and when they answered the door a child in a car seat was on the porch. They observed a white female, with short brown/reddish hair running to a white van that was parked in the roadway. The female got into the passenger seat of the van and the van then left the area headed toward Highway 770.
Investigators are seeking the publics assistance in locating the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is a white, 2016 Honda Odyssey Van. The van has a North Carolina License plate of KCS7873. On the back glass of the van there are window stickers of a stick family and two dogs. The owner of the vehicle also advised there were flowers hanging from the rearview mirror. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to immediately call 911.
