12 apartments were destroyed and 36 more were evacuated by a fire in Pittsylvania County early Sunday morning. Pittsylvania County fire and rescue volunteers and personnel were called to battle a structure fire at the NorthPoint apartment complex located at 600 N. Point Lane at about 5 am this morning.

 Two individuals were transported to the hospital, and three were treated and released. Firefighters made numerous rescues with ground ladders and crews remain on the scene.
12 other apartments were damaged by the fire. The American Red Cross has assisted the affected families by giving them vouchers for clothing, food, and places to stay.
The cause of the fire has not been released at this time. The fire required a county-wide call for assistance and the City of Danville was also on the scene.
Donations are being accepted at Dan River Middle School to help one family. The Trojan Vanguard Band Boosters are also accepting donations for a family by calling Michelle at 770-6423, Kim at 251-0853, or by Cash app at $trojanmusicboosters.
Hope Church Danville at 1118 Franklin Turnpike is also accepting donations for families including clothing, shower items, and school supplies.
