The Pittsylvania County School Board has proposed their budget for Fiscal Year 2024. One of the most notable highlights of the proposed budget is that it would provide a 7% salary increase for Pittsylvania County Schools staff.

The budget is also aiming to retain, reinstate, and add needed positions for the schools. Pittsylvania County Schools are also looking to update outdated safety equipment and upgrade or replace technology equipment.

According to a release from Division Superintendent Mark Jones, both the Senate and House versions of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget include the State’s share of a 7% salary increase for all funded Standards of Quality instructional and support positions effective on July 1.

The budget includes $23.1 million in local funding, as well as over $65 million in state funding. The total value of the proposed budget is nearly $122.9 million.

The budget has been sent to the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors who will have until May 15 to determine what local contributions will be made to the budget.
