The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a new EBT Food Stamp scam. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the scammers will reach out to the victims via text message and state that their food stamp card has been locked.

The scammers will then provide a number for the victim to call to unlock the card. When the victim calls the number they are prompted by a recording.

The recording will request the victim to enter their card number and pin to unlock the card. After providing the information, the recording will then state that the card has been reactivated. The scammers will then use the information provided by the victim to fraudulently remove funds from the victim’s card.

Citizens should always be hesitant to provide personal information over the telephone and through text messages. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751.
