Springfield Distillery in Halifax won silver for their ready-to-drink (RTD) canned cocktail, SCRATCH Blackberry Sour in the 2022 RTD Masters Competition held by The Spirits Business. An expert team of judges in London bestowed medals on products made with a base of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and whiskey.

Judges ranged from prominent members in the spirits industry including Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business and chair of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions and Marko Stanar, head bartender at Annabel’s in London.

This was Springfield’s first time entering this competition to take a silver medal in the whiskey-based category. Kelly Gordon of Springfield Distillery says, “I’m going to enter our Strawberry Smash too”. This win comes after the distillery won second place at the 4th Annual Virginia Bourbon Invitational at Virginia Beach November 5, 2022 for their Springfield Straight Bourbon.

Restaurants and event venues can order SCRATCH Blackberry Sour and SCRATCH Strawberry Smash 4-packs from Blue Ridge Distributing. Consumers can find them in local grocery stores in Halifax County, Pittsylvania County, and other Southside Virginia stores. If you do not see it ask your grocer to carry it.
