The 2022 midterm election results are mostly in for Pittsylvania County and it looks like the proposed 1% sales tax increase for schools will pass.. With 31 of 32 precincts having reported 51.97% of voters have voted yes so far. The vote for the sales tax currently has 930 more votes than those that opposed it.

The increase will raise around $3.8 million a year during the next 19 years and will be used for renovations to county schools. The sales tax increase will not affect groceries.

The Mayor for the Town of Chatham race has been tight so far with Alisa Davis leading Irvin Perry by just 22 votes with four of five precincts counted. For Chatham Town Council Teresa Easley, Janet Bishop, and William Black are in control with four of the five precincts having reported.
