The State of Virginia has introduced a new child ID program. According to WDBJ 7, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares and former Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer have announced a partnership with the National Child ID Program.

The partnership will distribute ID kits to kids in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades across the state. The National Child ID program was created after the kidnapping and death of Amber Hagerman in 1997. The Amber Alert was also created after Hagerman’s death. In the state of Virginia, there are currently 400 children missing.
