FOREST, Va – A minor earthquake shook the ground near Forest, Virginia Wednesday night.

The 2.2 magnitude trembler wasn’t noticed beyond the epicenter, which was located in Bedford County between Forest and Lynchburg. There were no reports of damage but some Forest residents felt the ground shake.

The quake was registered by the U.S. Geological Survey, which pinpointed its location about 6 miles outside the town of Forest. It was also detected on some seismographs.

An even smaller earthquake was detected last week in Cumberland, Virginia.
