(Danville, VA) – A business owner in Danville will spend time behind bars for fraud.  Seafood and More owner Bobby James 69, plead guilty in January to defrauding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) between 2010 and 2018.   The official charges were one count of wire fraud and one count of food stamp fraud.

James will spend twelve months and one day in prison for his activity.   James admitted that he as well as directing other employees to do the same, redeemed SNAP benefits for cash.

Between October of 2010 and July of 2018, redemptions submitted by Seafood and More exceeded normal statewide averages compared to other seafood specialty stores in its class by almost $2.5 million.  Overall Seafood and More cost the SNAP program more than $1.8 million in losses.
