PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A single-vehicle crash on Tom Fork Road in Ringgold on New Year’s Day left one person dead.

Virginia State Police said a Jeep was traveling westbound at around 3 a.m. It struck an embankment and overturned.

Three of the four passengers were trapped inside the vehicle, and one was thrown from the Jeep. Two of the injured were transported to Sovah Health in Danville, while one was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name was unavailable.

Ringgold Fire and Rescue responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.
