DANVILLE, Va. — Danville Farmers’ Market will open to the public on Saturday, May 9 while following all state, federal, and local health and safety recommendations both for patrons and vendors.

“We are proud to be able to offer this service that is a staple to Downtown Danville as well as local vendors and shoppers in the community,” said Danville Parks and Recreation Department Director Bill Sgrinia. “We do not take safety precautions and health concerns lightly so the market will be modified from its normal setup in order to meet the recommended guidelines. It’s a change for all of us, we appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we continue to develop and manage a new way to offer this service.”

The market will be open during its traditional time block on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the first hour, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. is reserved for seniors and immunocompromised shoppers. Patrons should not visit the market if they are ill and maintain six feet of space between other shoppers. Staff are asking that families only send one person per house inside the building to shop at a time.

While visiting the market the following regulations are in place:

  • As always, no pets allowed
  • Patrons will not be able to handle produce
  • No food can be consumed on site

There will only be one entrance and one exit, staff members will direct traffic flow and monitor the number of customers in the building at a time. Patrons are asked to not linger and socialize inside the building.

Interested vendors, inside or out, will not be allowed to set up without a reservation made in advance. Spots will be assigned by market management. Spaces can be reserved by calling 434-797-8961.
