(Danville, Va.) — A former Danville teacher received the maximum sentence Monday for taking indecent liberties with a former student. Johnathan Christopher Good was given an active prison term of 8 years.

Good was a teacher at Westover Christian Academy and pleaded guilty to the charges last month.

Danville Circuit Court Judge James Reynolds called the case “disturbing” and sentenced Good to five years for each of the four convictions, ordering that he serve eight years of the 20-year term.

Good’s parents and his pregnant wife were all called as character witnesses before the judge imposed the sentence. The court noted that Good took advantage of a student as he served in a supervisory capacity as her teacher.
