Del. Les Adams, R-Chatham, has announced he is resigning. Adams announcement comes after he was re-elected in November to serve the 48th House District.
The 48th House District includes the Southside Virginia communities within most of Pittsylvania County, most of Henry County, and the City of Martinsville.
Adams resignation will go into effect at the conclusion of his current term. He has served five terms in the Virginia General Assembly after being elected in 2013.
“Although I have been elected to continue serving as delegate for the new 48th House District in the next session, I will decline to accept the oath of office to be seated with that General Assembly so that I may make myself available for another position of service,” said Adams.
In addition to his leadership on various House Committees, Adams was recently the Vice-Chairman of the Virginia State Crime Commission and is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Rural Virginia. Adams also serves as a member of the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission.
