A Danville couple got a surprise Friday afternoon when a tree smashed into their Mowbray Arch home. The homeowner tells the Register & Bee the house started shaking just before the poplar tulip fell sending debris everywhere. It fell during the squalls that hit the Dan River area. The tree went through the ridge line of the roof, destroying it and most of the second floor, narrowly missing the chimney. No one was hurt.
