(Danville, Va.) – The State Medical Examiner has determined that there was no foul play in the death of an elderly Danville woman who perished in a house fire last week.

The findings, released Monday, indicate the death of 87-year-old Louvenia Loney was accidental in nature. A medical examiner in Roanoke concluded that Loney died as a result of inhalation of smoke and soot.

Family members had expressed concern over the cause of death after Loney was found dead after a July 5 house fire in the 200 block of First Street, where she had lived for the past 50 years.
