On Monday, the Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority  approved an agreement with Strata Solar who will set up a 55 megawatt battery solar storage facility at the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill. The new facility will be set up on 85 acres of lot 6.
A 125 megawatt solar facility will also be paired with the new facility. The purpose of this new facility is to enhance the site’s infrastructure and support large industrial operations.
The ground lease for Strata will consist of a development term of up to five years and a construction term of up to two years.
The Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority also approved widening 2.3 miles of State Highway 311 at the megasite from two-lanes to four-lanes. As part of the agreement, the state will pay over $60,000 to remove a sign and clear the way for the road widening.
The road will be widened in anticipation of increased traffic in the vicinity of the megasite.
