Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler has announced his candidacy for State Senate District 9. Vogler made the announcement on social media on Friday.

“I have always been driven by a steadfast commitment to upholding our conservative way of life, championing individual liberty, and promoting limited government. We need leaders in Richmond with the experience of creating good-paying jobs for our community and defending our southside way of life. I am proud of my record, and I look forward to getting to Richmond and continuing to serve our community and our commonwealth,” said Vogler.

Governor Glenn Yougnkin has announced a special election for January 9, 2024. The special election is to fill the seat of Senator Frank Ruff, who announced his retirement on Friday due to health concerns.

The 9th Senate District includes all of the counties of Charlotte, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, and Nottoway, as well as parts of the counties of Brunswick, Campbell, Dinwiddie, Halifax, Pittsylvania, and Prince George, and part of the City of Danville.
