On Friday night, the Martinsville Police Department arrested a second person in the murder of Antoine Preston. 

Ricardo Ortiz IV, 32-year-old male of Spencer, Virginia, is charged with:

• 1st Degree Murder
• Shooting from a vehicle to endanger persons
• Shooting into an occupied vehicle
• Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police also arrested 46-year-old Delano Tomaz Ross of Martinsville on October 7 for 1st Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Shoot from a Vehicle to Endanger Persons, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Violent Convicted Felon and Reckless Handling of a Firearm.

The homicide occurred on September 30 in the 1400 block of Fayette Street. When officers arrived, they encountered three individuals who directed the officers to a pickup truck that went over a guardrail, down a steep embankment and was upside down.

Preston was deceased inside of the truck when officers arrived.
