A Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy crashed his vehicle on Sunday night while in pursuit. At 9:37, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a call to check on a vehicle that had been parked for some time at the Fast Mart, 1015 Fairystone Park Hwy, Stanleytown, VA.

Upon arrival the vehicle in question pulled off at a high rate of speed, the deputy activated his lights and siren and a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit lasted approximately 4.34 miles, ending in Fieldale, VA.  The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

The vehicle being pursued was stolen from Charlotte-Mecklenberg Co., NC.  Deputies seized a firearm, marijuana and US Currency from the vehicle. As the investigation continues, we are working on information that is leading to the identity of the driver.

During the course of the pursuit an assisting deputy responding, lost control of their vehicle at the intersection of Kings Mountain Rd. and Virginia Ave.  The deputy did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident.

Anyone having information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or the Crimestoppers Program at 63-CRIME (632-7463).  The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
