The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors honored the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department during its business meeting held this week. The department recently won the 2022 Outstanding EMS Agency award from the Western Virginia EMS Council.
3 years ago the agency was responding to well below 50% of its calls but with new leadership more firefighters were recruited and the department added EMS services. Today Cascade is now one of the most consistent volunteer agencies in Pittsylvania County.
