The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development announced it will stop taking new applications for the Virginia Rent Relief Program after May 15. The program set up to help tenants during the pandemic processed payments for nearly 105,000 households through the end of March. Those applying between now and May 15 will be prioritized based on their level of need. Officials say they are working with partners to increase the affordable housing supply.
