RICHMOND, Va. – Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin has announced the members of his transition steering committee. They include three former Republican governors and one Democrat, Doug Wilder.

Wilder was the nation’s first Black governor. He declined to endorse fellow Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the governor’s race and was openly critical of McAuliffe in blogs and interviews.

Just before Election Day, Wilder told Fox News McAuliffe used Gov. Ralph Northam’s black face scandal as a springboard to stage a political comeback. Wilder also said the Democratic party had failed in its outreach to Black voters and urged more support for historically-Black colleges and universities.

Three former Republican governors, Jim Gilmore, Bob McDonnell and George Allen, will serve with Wilder on the transition team and will hold their first meeting on Thursday.

Youngkin said that other members of his transition steering committee include business owners, law enforcement officers, veterans, healthcare providers and parents.
