2021-storm-1

DANVILLE, Va. – After three days of working rotating 16-hour shifts, Danville Utility crews have now reduced 20,000 power outages to just a few hundred. They’ve received help along the way from four contract crews from North Carolina.

Saturday’s ice storm resulted in power outages the likes of which haven’t been seen locally since Hurricane Michael in the fall of 2018.

All of the larger power outages in the Danville service area had been restored by the end of the day Monday. Crews are now working to fix scattered outages and are focusing on pole replacements.

Approximately 600 customers were still without power Monday night. The biggest problems were recorded in the Kentuck and Keeling areas of Pittsylvania County.
