DANVILLE, Va. – Danville voters approved a casino referendum today. 13,022 people voted to approve the casino and 5,941 people voted against it.
Bryant Hood leads in 3-way race for Danville city Council with 7,074 votes. Fred Shanks has 6,985 votes; Petrina Carter has 4,141 votes. 600 mail-in ballots yet to be counted and less than 100 provisional ballots remaining.
Democrat Joe Biden has won the state of Virginia. He was awarded its 13 electoral votes on Tuesday. Democrat Hillary Clinton won Virginia over Republican Donald Trump in 2016. Democrats now control every branch of government in the state.
Sen. Mark Warner easily won reelection for a 3rd term.
