(South Boston, Va.) — South Boston police are trying to determine if an injured person  who turned up at an area hospital was hit during an earlier exchange of gunfire in the town.

Officers responded about 7:30 Friday night after receiving a report of shots fired. Witnesses told police a silver or tan SUV and a silver or tan car pulled up on Easley Street near Noblin Avenue and exchanged gunfire. Investigators didn’t find anyone injured but recovered multiple spent shell casings.

Police later learned a person was taken to Person County Memorial Hospital for an unknown injury.  They’re trying to determine if this person was injured in the shooting incident.
