(Providence, N.C.) – A Danville man is charged with murder in a fatal shooting that happened early Friday morning in Providence, N.C.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office has charged 52-year-old Donald Scott Lane with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder following an incident that happened in the 1000 block of the New Walter’s Mill Road that left one person dead and another seriously wounded. Layne is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Juanita Hankins Dawson and attempted first-degree murder of Stephanie Snead

Lane is being held in the Caswell County Jail under no bond and is set to appear in court on Wednesday, September 19.

Lane is the same man who was alleged to have held a female employee against her will and sexually assaulting her on the morning of March 1 at his business, Megabounce Indoor Playground on Riverside Drive in Danville. Layne told investigators that he and the alleged victim were in a relationship. He was indicted for abduction and rape in June.
