(Danville, Va.) — Danville Utilities crews are working to restore a power outage affecting 2,400 customers along Piney Forest Road and sections of North Danville. The outage is due to a substation fire.

One transformer is out of service due to a fire at the substation that serves neighborhoods along a portion of Piney Forest Road, Arnett Boulevard, North Main Street and U.S. 29 Business from the city limits to Mount View Road in the Blairs community.

The transformer will remained out of service Monday night. Crews are working to serve customers without power from another substation. The process to switch the load will take several hours.
