(Danville, Va.) – The mother of a seven-month old Danville girl who was abducted at knife-point Sunday night says she fears for the safety of her child, noting that the baby’s father is 52 and she fears he will harm himself or the baby “because he has nothing left to lose.”
In an interview with WTVR 6, Kristen Murphy says she was involved in a three-year abusive relationship with Carl Ray Kennedy. He confronted her in the parking lot of the Kwik Stop on Riverside Drive Sunday night. She says he tried to force her to leave with him. When she refused, Murphy says Kennedy began beating her and tried to stab her before grabbing 7-month-old Emma Grace Kennedy and fleeing in his car.
Virginia State Police say Carl Kennedy may have been sighted Monday in the area of Seven Spring, N.C. and that he might be headed for Oak Island, NC.
They say he could be driving a gold, 2007 Suzuki four-door Forenza with North Carolina license EKZ-5093.
If you’ve seen Carl Kennedy or the car, you’re asked to call 911.
