(Danville, Va.) – Three incumbents were returned to Danville City Council Tuesday and will be joined by former councilman Adam Tomer.

Alonzo Jones was the top vote-getter, followed by Tomer, Gary Miller and James Buckner. Sheila Baynes made an impressive showing but failed in her second attempt to win a seat on council. With all 16 precincts reporting, Buckner led Baynes by less than 100 votes.

In the Danville School Board contest, Crystal Averett Cobbs received the largest number of votes. She’ll be joined by 20-year-old TyQuan Graves and Brandon D. Adkins. Phillip Campbell came in a close fourth but failed to win a seat on the board. There were seven candidates vying for three seats.

Just over 18 percent of Danville’s 26,651 registered voters went to the polls.
