(Danville, Va.) — Several Averett students were treated for minor injuries after a glass tube shattered in a chemistry lab Thursday afternoon.
The Danville Fire Department responded to the small explosion in the organic chemistry lab in Frith Hall on Mountain View Ave. Some cold water hit a heated beaker, shattering the glass. The glass fragments resulted in some minor cuts. One student was taken by the Danville Life Saving Crew to SOVAH Health as a precaution. All 12 students and a faulty member are fine.
There was no damage to the lab and no chemicals were involved in the incident.
The lab area was cleared but normal operations continued on campus.
