(Chatham, Va.) – A Chatham man is $150,000 richer after playing the Virginia Lottery’s Powerball game.

Danny Gibson matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number in the drawing on March 24. That would normally mean a payout of $50,000, but he spent an extra dollar for the Power Play, so it tripled his winnings to $150,000.

Gibson is a retired farmer and said he would’ve been happy just to win the smaller prize but admits it was exciting to take home more money.

Gibson bought his winning ticket at the Apple Market on U.S. Highway 29 in Blairs.

The winning numbers in that drawing were 10-33-45-53-56, and the Powerball number was 24.

The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
