(Danville, Va.) — The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region has awarded more than $637,000 in new grants to 43 non-profit community agencies across the region.

This year’s awards contain $250,000 in funding made available by a grant from the Danville Regional Foundation.

This year’s recipients include Averett University for renovations to historic Main Hall; the Caswell County Family Medical Center to expand access to the “House Calls Program;” the city of Danville to provide eligible families with assistance to pay utility bills and to assist with a critical need or temporary housing; and the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association to help cancer patients with the cost of their prescriptions.

The presentations were made Wednesday during a reception at the Ballou Recreation Center.

The Community Foundation was incorporated in 1996 and has already returned more than $22.6 million in community grants and scholarships.
