(Danville, Va.) – A summer tradition continues in Danville Tuesday, as neighborhoods across town celebrate National Night Out.

The gatherings have been held at parks and schools across the city for the past thirty years. The annual meetings have evolved from free hot dog suppers to a focus on concerted crime prevention methods in individual neighborhoods.

More than a dozen Danville neighborhoods will stage public gatherings Tuesday evening. Others will meet privately to discuss community watch programs aimed at reducing crime.
