
The Southern Virginia (SoVa) Taskforce, originally enabled by the support of GO Virginia Region 3, was formed to navigate the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. It is comprised of economic developers and chamber executives spanning the entire Southern Virginia region. Through a cooperative approach, the taskforce developed numerous initiatives to successfully support business and industry and it continues to convene on a regular basis with a focus on critical community needs including workforce retention and recruitment. The SoVa Taskforce is happy to announce the second Workforce Solutions Summit set for March 7, 2024 in South Boston.
The event will address current employment concerns, showcase best practice solutions, and provide opportunities to emerge in a better competitive position with a more qualified and dedicated team. The Summit will feature the following programming:
- Update from Kathy Bryon, Deputy Director of External Affairs, Virginia’s Department of Workforce Development and Advancement
- “Attracting and Selecting the Best, Qualified Candidates using Technology” by Paul Carney, Executive Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Carter Bank & Trust
- “Establishing Your Company as an Employer of Choice” by Gary Campbell, Founder, Impact2Lead
- Success stories in childcare solutions, career and technical education, and K-12 achievements by a panel of local leaders
- Unveiling of two documents – Workforce Pipeline Study Results and kickoff for Regional Wage and Benefits Survey
