(Henry County, Va.) – A driver was rescued after a car became submerged in flash flooding in Henry County Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the northern portions of Henry and Franklin Counties, after up to 5 inches of rain fell over the region just over a day.

U.S. 220 flooded in four places near Bassett Forks, where Reed Creek crosses the road, just before it flows into the Smith River.

Several trees were uprooted and strewn across the northbound lane of U.S. 220 following mudslides in the area.
