A Danville City Council member is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated. Larry Campbell Jr. was arrested at 2 pm on Saturday in the 1900 block of South Boston Rd. after Danville Police received a report from a concerned citizen.

Campbell Jr. was processed at Danville City Jail and an arraignment at Danville General District Court has been set for Monday at 8:30 am. Campbell Jr. is facing a misdemeanor charge of first offense driving while intoxicated.

According to the Danville Register & Bee, the mayor and City Council members are aware of the incident, but have no further comment.

Campbell Jr. has been a member of City Council since 2008. The council recently honored the memory of his father, Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell Sr., at a meeting where they declared April 4 from now on will be Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell Sr. Day.
